THE HUSBAND TAKES VENGEANCE

¶ A woman's falseness, and a man's jealousy and revenge are the themes about which the plot of this master production is built ¶ Anson, a circus clown, discovers that his wife is untrue. ¶ He kills her and flees with his daughter, Ethel, a child of eight. ¶ In the distant city where he takes up his abode he secures work and in the years that follow he becomes well off. ¶ Ethel, now grown to charming young womanhood, is his joy and solace, but always in his heart he cherishes a hope of vengeance upon Randall, the wrecker of his home. ¶ His opportunity arrives. ¶ He hears of Randall, now happily married and vows to make his enemy suffer as had he. ¶ A business acquaintance, Mendell, is an instrument ready to his hand. ¶ By artful suggestion the former clown arouses in Mendell a desire for the beautiful Mrs. Randall. ¶ The two plan to abduct her and carry her to Mendell's apartment. ¶ The plot succeeds and Anson hastens to a telephone and informs Randall of his wife's whereabouts. ¶ Meanwhile Mendell's prey escapes from im into an inner room and locks herself in. ¶ In fiendish exhultation Anson helps Mendell break down the door. ¶ Then Anson's blind fury is transformed to consternation. ¶ For the first time his eyes fall upon the intended victom of his hate. ¶ It is Ethel, his own daughter. ¶ During his absence from home, Ethel, suffering from shock following an automobile accident, was being cared for by the Randalls and had been given Mrs. Randall's room. ¶ In the dark and confusion of the abduction the change has not been noticed. ¶ Filled with relief at the frustration of his scheme, the horrified father sinks by the side of his still unconscious daughter and breathes the words "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord."
