Hear the GLOBE TROTTER in Heart Metrotone News
While there were "art house" theaters that sometimes showed foreign-language films, the Victory Theatre was owned by Loew's/M-G-M, so it is unusual for the theater to be showing a foreign language film. There must have been a German-speaking community in the neighborhood.

Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell Sweethearts Again in New Romance
"Merely Mary Ann" Brings Famous Screen Lovers in Fine Picture
Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell have the happy faculty of becoming more charming and effective as sweethearts in every new picture they make. Their latest vehicle, &Merely Mary Ann," which comes here next week, is no exception to this rule
As the little drudge who blossoms out into an heiress, Miss Gaynor gives a remarkable performance and one that contrasts vividly in mood with that of her famous co-star, Charles Farrell, as the sarcastic and bitter composer who learns, almost too late, what love means.
In "MERELY MARY ANN" they are even more enjoyable than in their earlier triumphs. The story is charming and the leading roles perfect for both stars. Director Henry King daringly went beyond the usual field to choose the supporting players which include the ever-delightful Beryl Mercer as the hard-hearted boarding house keeper for whom Mary Ann works, J. M. Kerrigan, Arnold Lucy and many others.
The authentic London settings and the sympathetic treatment given "Merely Mary Ann," which is based on Israel Zangwill' play of that name, make the resulting film a sheer delight. You can't go wrong with "Merely Mary Ann."
